Don’t Miss the 31st Annual Taste of the Town

Each year the largest culinary and social event of the year can be found right here in Myrtle Beach. This year the 31st Annual Taste of the Town will take place on Tuesday, October 21 from 4-10 p.m. at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. If you’ve never attended Taste of the Town, be sure to move it to the top of your local events to participate in list.

LOCAL EVENTS: 31st Annual Taste of the Town

More than 50 area restaurants will be participating in the event and offering exclusive and freshly prepared appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Each restaurant has their own booth set up where they will be selling “Tapas-style” items from their menus for $1 through $4 apiece.

The restaurants participating in Taste of the Town compete for awards such as Favorite Restaurant – Entrée, Favorite Restaurant – Dessert, Best Large Booth Design, Best Small Booth Design, People’s Choice – Favorite Entrée and Favorite Dessert and Kid’s Choice – Favorite Entrée and Favorite Dessert. There will also be an award for the 2014 Celebrity Bar Tender, taking place from 5-7 p.m. in the Beer and Wine Garden.

31st Annual Taste of the Town AWARDS

Live entertainment will be provided by High Steppin Country, Bullfrog, and the Austin Mowery Band. There will be a family fun area with a Kid’s Zone, inflatable jumping houses, rock wall, scavenger house and a photo booth.

Every ticket purchased counts towards determining which restaurant and bar tender are ultimately awarded the coveted 2014 Taste of the Town trophy for display in their restaurant. The food tickets will serve as your votes.

Admission is $6 at the door. Children 14 and under will be admitted free with adult. Advance Admission Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at www.TOTMB.com, at all HTC locations, St. Andrew Catholic Church Parish office, and at St. Andrew Catholic School, 3601 N. Kings Hwy. in Myrtle Beach. Food tickets are $1 and will be sold at the event.

Youth Baseball Nationals to be Held in Myrtle Beach

The Youth Baseball Nationals in Myrtle Beach will take place on three separate weeks from Friday, June 13 through Thursday, July 3, 2014. This is a week-long national tournament for 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U, 14U and 15U baseball teams played on the turf fields at beautiful Grand Park at Market Common in Myrtle Beach, right on the Atlantic coast. This park is one of the best youth baseball complexes in the country and Myrtle Beach is the ultimate baseball vacation destination with so many great activities and local events you’ll want to do everything there is to do here!

After 5 consecutive days of competition among players, great memories and fun times, the tournament culminates on Championship Thursday. This is the tournament’s marquee day and one of the big reasons this is such a fun-filled experience for all of the players and coaches. The activities begin at 10 a.m. with the final four in each age group and end with the championship games starting under the lights at approximately 9:00 p.m. All players will participate in skills competitions, will be eligible to be selected for the Nationals All-Star teams, and will receive parting gift packages and goodies for their participation in the Nationals. By the end of the evening a national champion will be crowned!

109th Annual SC Fire-Rescue Conference in Myrtle Beach

The South Carolina State Firefighter’s Association has announced the 109th Annual SC Fire-Rescue Conference being held from June 9-14, 2014 at the popular Myrtle Beach Convention Center where many local events are held.

This is a training and educational conference that will feature world-renown instructors and keynote speakers that will deliver programs to impart knowledge, provoke thought and revive your love for the job. There will be over 150 vendors set up in the 100,800 square foot exhibit hall so you won’t want to miss this!

109th Annual SC Fire-Rescue Conference

Your SCSFA Membership ID Badge is your ticket to free training and all activities at this conference. There is no need to register if you hold this ID Badge. All training opportunities are held on a first come, first served basis until the room capacity is full.

All Hands On Training (HOT) classes will be offered at the Myrtle Beach Fire Department Training Ground. You must register through the SC Firefighter’s Association for these classes. Class space is limited. You will be expected to provide your own transportation and PPE to these classes.

2014 Coastal Uncorked: Food & Wine Festival

As part of Restaurant Week 2014 in Myrtle Beach, SC, the Myrtle Beach Area Hospitality Association is hosting the 4th annual Coastal Uncorked Food, Wine & Spirits Festival at Pyler Park the week of June 2-8, 2014. This is a 7-day celebration of the Myrtle Beach area culinary scene and features several of the Grand Strand’s most mouth watering restaurants. Come Enjoy a Myrtle Beach Pelicans Baseball Game

What better time to take in a baseball game with the family than while you’re on vacation in Myrtle Beach. You see, we’re not just about golf and the ocean around here – there’s many local events that include amusement and entertainment in the surrounding Grand Strand area as well.

Pelicans Baseball GameOut of the mouths of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans themselves, when it comes to describing their upcoming 2014 campaign it’s “Un-Flocking-Believable!” And, honestly, you won’t want to miss it! Tickets start at just $8.00. There’s a kids zone play area on the grounds, a fantastic fireworks shows at the end of some home games, and free promotions and giveaways.

Following every home game, kids are permitted to run the bases with Splash and Deuce, the mascots. Kids enter the field at the first base side at the top of Section 104 and exit near the home plate area at Section 107. Proceed to the first base side only after the completion of the game so as to not disturb the patrons sitting in those areas. Parents may join younger children on the field. Kids are asked to only run the bases one time since time is limited due to other post-game events.

The Pelicans provide free parking to all fans attending games at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. Plan on arriving at the ballpark at least 45 minutes prior to first pitch to ensure ample time to park and get to your seats. All general parking, including those with handicapped permits and those holding light orange season ticket holder parking passes, must enter off of Grissom Parkway. Suite holders and media are the only vehicles allowed to enter via the 21st Avenue entrance. Ballpark parking lots open two hours prior to game time. A total of 55 handicap accessible parking spots are located west of the stadium next to the water tower. Gates to the ballpark are open one hour before the scheduled start of a game unless otherwise designated.

Nine suites wrap around the press box level, looking down on all of the action on the field. Amenities include a wet bar, refrigerator, high-definition cable TV, telephone, outdoor seating for 12, exclusive food/beverage service and private bathrooms.
